I know how passionate you are about your business. You have spent time creating and honing your Core Purpose (your "why") and reinforcing your Core Values (the behaviours your business lives and breathes).
In addition to this, I know you truly believe that one of the major ways to scale your business and for it to thrive is through your PEOPLE.
Whilst I believe that the labour market is turning away from "candidate strong" back in favour of the employer, candidates are still demanding significantly more of employers than I believe is fair and reasonable, and employee loyalty seems to be seriously waning.
I recently came across a brilliant podcast episode. In the episode of At the Table with Patrick Lencioni, titled ‘Workquake’, Patrick and his team address the tectonic shift in the nature of work. Asking if our work is trending towards being non-relational and discussing the ramifications and importance of how we acknowledge and approach this shift leading into the new year and the future.
They also discuss the importance of organisations being able to clearly and definitively state their business values… Who they are, what they stand for and how they operate.
Highlighting the need for leaders and CEOs to have conviction in these principles when hiring and maintaining employee loyalty versus allowing their business values to be compromised to accommodate everyone provides a much stronger roadmap for success.
We vehemently agree with his sentiment, and highly recommend you have your team take time to listen to it too and follow up with an action-oriented discussion in your next weekly meeting.
